Hey CBS! What the F--k?

In 1998 when CBS took over the coverage of the AFC, I admit that I could not have cared less. I'm not one to complain about whether Cris Collinsworth or Jim Nantz would be the man to talk throughout a Browns game - though I would prefer Collinsworth, but that's just me.

But since the advent of High Definition Television, and even more importantly the purchase of one for my home, something needs to be done about this:

Now I know that the $14.5 billion CBS stepped up to the plate this year and "doubled" their HD coverage, but would it kill them to broadcast one more game? There's no denying that Miami at Cleveland isn't a big ticket contest by any stretch, but is Houston at Jacksonville? Tennessee at Tampa Bay?

This isn't the first time that Cleveland was fisted by the lack of HD this year as the game in Oakland was broadcasted in Standard Definition as well. I'd like to testify about the others, but I was at the stadium, thus not watching on television.

The Browns are on a bye next week, so CBS only has five games on the dockett - of course, all in High Definition. That's right, you'll get to see Tennessee at Houston or even Baltimore at Buffalo all in crystal clear imaging.

With seven AFC games for week eight, and Cleveland heading to St. Louis, I'd be willing to bet that we won't get High Def coverage for yet another week. I've noticed that while CBS broadcasts up to six games a week in HD, the 4p (ET) games always get the nod.

Typically, there are one or two 4p games on CBS, but week eight has three: Buffalo/Jets, Houston/San Diego, Jacksonville/Tampa Bay. Of the 1p games, the Colts will undoubtedly get coverage against Carolina, and Pittsburgh/Cincy is a division rivalry. This leaves Oakland at Tennessee and the Browns at (the 0-6) St. Louis vying for that final set of cameras.

All I know is that those fans in the Cleveland/St. Louis markets may want to get their HDTV's placed on "stretch" beforehand. It may limit the disappointment come game time - at least until the "THIS GAME IS NOT BEING BROADCASTED IN HD" banner roles across the bottom of the screen.

Marc Bulger Has No Excuse For Sucking

One of the teams that I thought would be very successful this season, aside from the New Orleans Saints, was the St. Louis Rams. Another year under the belt of Steven Jackson, new pass-catching options in Drew Bennett and Randy McMichael, and a quarterback in Marc Bulger who proved that he really could play 16 games in a season.

If you were to ask any casual Rams fan, I'm willing to bet that they would have preferred Bulger actually miss last week's game instead of tossing three interceptions in an embarrassing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A loss that saw one of the (supposed) high-powered offenses in the league put up a total of three points. Thank you, Jeff Wilkins.

News has recently been shared that Bulger in fact has been playing through some pain that has been caused by injured ribs. This would obviously be a good enough reason for being behind players like Joey Harrington, Derek Anderson, Kyle Boller and Damon Huard when it comes to passer rating. Or would it?

Today's St. Louis Post-Dispatch says that Bulger is in fact "OK" to play. What he doesn't say is that he's been calling the plays that have resulted in misfortune.

Would he like to see more aggressive game plans?

"Honestly, I just run what they call," Bulger replied.

Not making excuses, but blaming the play-calling? Did Head Coach Scott Linehan call a play that asked Bulger to audible and underthrow Drew Bennett?

Bulger went on to compare his shoulder injury of the past to the rib injury of the present, stating that he knew he couldn't throw the ball after the shoulder, and that this injury isn't effecting his throwing ability.

This week brings an undefeated Dallas team that will provide a increased pass-rush over what the Rams saw against Tampa Bay. Somewhere, Demarcus Ware is licking his chops in knowing that with no Orlando Pace and no Steven Jackson, he'll get his shot at Bulger - likely several times over. Will there be a Gus Ferrotte sighting? If so, don't blame it on the ribs.

Morning YouTubenss: Leave Nothing...

...But tear your groin in the meantime.

With news that Steven Jackson will miss this week's game, and possibly more, I figured that all of his fantasy owners can simply watch this commercial on loop.

We're about to become pretty familiar with the name Brian Leonard over the next few weeks - but I doubt he'll ever get a Nike commercial of his own.

Notice that Jackson doesn't exactly cross the goal line at the end. Notice that he's yet to cross the goal line this season. Ugh. Enjoy...I guess.

Remember The Rams?

Getting ready to pack things up for the Labor Day weekend. Figured I'd share this tidibit of information.

Associated Press is reporting that The St. Louis Rams have cut 11 players today. One of the not-so-fortunate was running back J.D. Washington, son of actor Denzel Washington - or Coach Herman Boone for you Titans fans.

An undrafted free agent from Morehouse College (your guess is as good as mine), Kid Washington spend last season on the Rams practice squad and apparently didn't progress much. Oddly enough, he also played in NFL Europa, which shut its doors as a league.

Maybe he could always fall back on that acting career?

So, like J.D. Washington, I'm now free to go home and spend the holiday doing...well, not this. Get outside and enjoy the weather - it won't be here for long (assuming you're not reading this from Los Angeles). Have a good Holiday, folks.
