Not So Fast, A.P.

While Adrian Peterson getting the Rookie of the Year award has been pretty much a lock for weeks, those that thought he would be unanymously handed the trophy will be surprised to see that A.P. didn't get all of the votes.

That's right, Peterson had to share a few first place votes with Browns' offensive tackle Joe Thomas.

Of the 50 votes, Thomas mustered 3.5 first-place nods. How one can get half of a vote is beyond me, but the former Wisconsin Badger did just that.

Football Outsiders have Thomas listed as one of the top two tackles in all of football this season, based on one of their in-depth formulas. While he has to sit and wait to see if one of the offensive linemen that were voted to the Pro Bowl dip out, those that followed the rookie know what he meant to the Browns turn-around this year.

Morning YouTubeness: Upside Potential

Happy Labor Day, all. There isn't going to be much going on in these parts today, but I figured that a little video wouldn't hurt.

I think this kid will be a great addition to a rebuilding Raiders franchise. If this isn't going to make JaMarcus Russell sign with thee team, I don't know what will.

If you look closely, he kind of looks like a young Al Davis. If you wondered what Al looked like back in 1895, this may be about as close as you'll get. Enjoy.

About Time, Darrelle

One of my first posts on this here blog was regarding the holdout of first round selection Darrelle Revis. Of course, I wanted to know why no one made a big deal about his holdout, but those of JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn (at the time) were in the news every day. And of course, I received no answers.

Well, we get back on the Revis tip this morning as the official New York Jets web site reports that the team is very close on signing the defensive back - that they traded up to draft, mind you.

Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said the following:

"I'd say we're very close. A couple of issues need to be resolved. We've worked very hard to try to find a solution that works for both sides. We're very close and we're going to try to see this thing through."

Tannenbaum continued on to compliment Revis' agent, saying that he's made great efforts to get his client signed. I'm not sure when we entered the world of GM's sucking up to agents, but we have...at least in New York.

They'll need to get this kid in camp as soon as possible, as I'm thinking Tom Brady can't wait to test him on week 1. No excuses Darrelle. No excuses.

Blitz Protection Is Overrated

Thanks to Brothers Mottram, we get this wonderful video of Kerry Collins nearly losing his head. Keep your eye on the strong safety (the guy coming in from the defensive backfield...untouched).

Robert Meachem Prefers Fly Patterns

I'm a bit late on this given that it's Thursday. This one is short, but sweet. Really sweet.

Too bad that the "just run as fast as you can" spot is taken by Devery Henderson. The Saints may want to explore other options for the middle of the field as Robby may not be even putting his hands up between the hashmarks after this one.

(And I have no idea what's with the horseshoes-on-paneling at the end of the video. I just find and post. Fiiind and post.)

Note to AFC East: Load Up On Tomatoes

The big news out of Bills camp today is that rookie running back Dwayne Wright is recovering from possible food poisoning that is reported to have taken place on August 6th.

Wright, a 230 lb. lad, had an allergic reaction to something he had eaten and woke up on the 7th with a swollen lip and jaw.

"Oh yeah, it was a scary thing," Wright said. "But no problems. I'm here ready to work."

Apparrently, Wright is allergic to avocados and tomatoes, one of which is believed to have been in a wrap that was consumed on the 6th.

Good news for the big guy, as he'll look to be a part of one of the younger backfields in the NFL.

Meanwhile, look for Joey Porter to use the "tomatoes" excuse when asked how Levi Jones woke up with a swollen lip and jaw in Las Vegas.
