Prince Akeem Called The Giants Game 20 Years Ago

Had I known Prince Akeem was so good, I would have laid down a few bucks! I'm always late to the party...

Enjoy.

While My Receiver Gently Weeps

Say what you want about the emotion involved in this T.O. clip, but color me surprised that he didn't totally blow up and start pointing fingers. To me, this caps off a season of maturation for Owens...it's just too bad that the maturity had to start at age 31.

T.O. Follow-Up

Michael David Smith over at the 'House provides a video of the incident described below. Good stuff.

I would embed the video myself, but apparently YouTube is no longer accessable in this here work place. It's just one click away, I promise.

Nothing To See Here? Then Go There!

Pardon me while I borrow a portion of this picture from Epic Carnival

Last season, the NFL TV v NFL debate was one that was pretty strong through the entire season, somewhat fading after fans realized that they just were not going to see any games on the Network. This season, I must admit that I am somewhat surprised that the debate has not brewed up until the end of November, now that the broadcast of games will commence for the 2007 season.

While only about a third of households actually get the NFL Network, with few major markets even getting the option to have the channel, thinking here is that this could be the greatest thing to hit sports bars since when Boxing was actually good. While cable providers continue to attempt their "Email and Annoy" campaign to the NFL, it's obvious that they aren't budging. But you know who won't be sending those emails? You got it. Your neighborhood BWs...or in this case, Cleats Bar and Grille.

Those establishments that have sprung for Satellite providers simply to offer their client base a plethora of athletic viewing options will get an even bigger turnout for these Thursday and Saturday viewings on the NFLN. Forget the Chiefs/Raiders games, you'll be lucky to get hometown fans to watch. But tonight's game between "America's Team" and "America's Quarterback" should be providing a ton of cash flow for bars across the country.

Of course, I am of the one-third of fans that actually have the NFL Network, so I'll be consuming the beer which was bought for a reasonable price at the grocery store. But you can bet your ass that I would be paying jacked-up bar price for a 22 oz. draft if it meant that I would get to watch what will likely be the best game of the week.

Sports bars, you can send your "Thank You" cards to the NFL, just make sure to put a few buck in there, will ya? They looooove their money.

Morning YouTubeness: Monday Night Bukakke

Not only did we have a gunslinger last night as Denver took down the Tennessee Titans, but it appears as if some of the Broncos were rubbing it in Vince Young's face. Literally. Listen carefully.

Nice work, Jaws!

So This Is Legal?

I can probably warn you in advance that there are going to be a decent focus on the Browns today. The Steelers lost, the Browns swept the Ravens on the season, and now they're a game out of first.

All of that talk from Ray Lewis that "things will be different when we play them at home. How's that working for you, Ray?

ANYWAYS, I must draw attention to an altercation that took place early on in the contest yesterday. Yes, all of the focus will be on the field goal that was missed, then (not) reviewed and reversed. But this video that provides the evidence of Haloti Ngata blatently punching Joe Thomas in the head...right in front of a referee.

Did he get ejected? Of course not. He did get 15 yards, so the ref obviously saw the punch. The announcers saw it. The other players saw it. How was he still in the game? Whether I'm a Bronws fan or not, the lack of ejection in that instance was utterly rediculous. If helmet to helmet hits are grounds for automatic ejection, shouldn't swinging at another player - while he's on the ground, no less - be thought of in a similar light?

I'm actually going to be very surprised if the league does not do something about this at some point in the week. Of course, I would be more surprised if anything is said regarding the official who did not eject him, but a fine for the player will more than likely be in order. Paging Roger Goodell.

Pardon the awful paintbrush editing, but you catch the drift.

(Thanks to DCScrap for the clip)

Morning YouTubness: After Further Discussion...

I'm the King of the World!

Wow. That's all I can say.

By now, you have seen the end of the Browns/Ravens game from Sunday afternoon. Phil Dawson said it best when being interviewed, responding to a question with, "The Browns haven't had a call like this go their way in nine years." What is good for the state of the NFL is that the officials got the call correct, "reviewable" or not.

Big thanks to Awful Announcing for providing the video, and the AP for the image. Enjoy. Unless you're a Ravens fan, of course...

YouTubeness: Jay Cutler Makes It Big Time

Big high-five to Fan IQ for tipping me to this video of Jay Cutler on South Park.

No excuse me while I call my buddy Matt to see if he was invited to the party. I'm pretty sure he quit his job to play Guitar Hero. I'm sure he played a few downs as our quarterback for the intramural flag football team...

Morning YouTubeness: Crotch Grabbin' Good Time

Morning, readers. Both of you.

The big talk of the blogosphere yesterday was the Lamebeau Leap that resulted in a little second base action. While I totally agree with these guys, I figured you could forward this on to the 3:30 mark to check it out for yourself. Enjoy.

Morning YouTubeness: A Hole New Angle

Morning, all.

We've all seen the England streaker video by now, but I'm pretty sure that this is the first time I've seen it from this angle. If streakers get this much time on the field in England, I fully condone more games overseas. That dude would not have lasted 10 seconds in the Medowlands. Enjoy.

Morning YouTubeness: Josh Cribbs Came To Play

Good morning, all. Apologies for the lack of posts over the last few days - real life gets in the way sometimes.

Quite a rough weekend in Ohio as the Buckeyes dropped a home game to the unranked Illini and then the Browns cough up a halftime lead by doing absolutely nothing until the final drive, preceded by Romeo Crennel wasting two timeouts.

If there's any silver lining, it's this run back by Josh Cribbs, who had another run stopped at the opposing four yard line, and a nice punt return called back due to a penalty. Watch the tip-toeing down the sideline. Dare we call him the AFC's Devin Hester? Enjoy.

Morning YouTubeness: Mr. Ed

With Ed Reed getting de-cleated on Monday night, I have seen a few highlight videos floating around the web. One of the newer ones that I have found is below.

There's no doubting the guy's talent, but there is some doubting that he is playing at the same level that he was a few years back when the Ravens were the dominating defense in the league - with Reed being one of the best players in the NFL. Enjoy.

Morning YouTubeness: "Hines" Rhymes With "Fines"

Morning, all. While I agree with AA that Hines Ward is one of the best blocking wide receivers in the history of the NFL, I have to take the opposing side on this one.

Leading with the helmet and blocking a defensive back are two totally different things. It isn't the first time that Ward has been guilty of such, it just so happens that this one was before the whistle as opposed to the play against Cleveland.

It wouldn't surprise me if the NFL laid down another fine on the wide out despite being "legal" during the course of play. Judge for yourself.

Morning YouTubness: MJDefense

Happy Monday, all. A solid week of NFL games about to be finished off tonight. Unfortunately, Indianapolis folded like a lawn chair and New England is still undefeated - but failed to cover the spread, if that matters.

I now direct your attention to this Jacksonville Jaguars interception. While they got drilled by the Saints, check out Jason Craft getting drilled by Maurice Jones-Drew. Get this guy on special teams!

QB Sacks With A Party In The Back

The Secret Weapon

Now I knew that Jared Allen was a good time. I mean, c'mon. He was arrested for a DUI. Dangerous, yes. But you can be sure he was enjoying himself before sitting behind a wheel.

While I don't fully condone such behavior, I fully support this video that has been unleashed by the awesome people of Arrowhead Addict.

If I could embed it here, I wouldn. Just head over to the Addict to check it out. You'll need to turn up the volume a bit, but any player that says his mullet is the key to his success gets a thumbs up in my book. Enjoy.

Morning YouTubeness: Soulja Bear?

I'm beginning to side with The Big Lead in that this whole Soulja Boy thing is jumping the shark. While I still dig the song, I don't dig every one and their brother making some sort of video about it. I guess this just shows that we should be thankful that the advent of YouTube came along a while after the Macarena.

I give these kids credit for making a full four minute long video. Rhyming "Orange Shirt" with "Support?" Not so much. Have a good Friday, all.

Morning YouTubeness: Go Cincinnati

With only two wins on the season, and a baseball team that left a little to be desired, this "Cincinnati" fan deserves some face time. He's not necessarily a Bengals fan. Or a Reds fan. Just a Cincinnati fan.

Bob Huggins would be proud. And drunk.

Rock on.

Morning YouTubeness: Better Late Than Never

Not to go back to the draft, but when Miami passed on Brady Quinn for Ted Ginn Jr., a few eyebrows were raised. While there has been jokes about Ginn getting his sophomore slump out of the way this season, Ginn decided to wait until week eight, in London no less, to haul in his first career touchdown pass.

With Chris Chambers heading to San Diego, this kid is your new #1 receiver, Dolphins fans. Embrace it.

I love the commentary after the grab saying that the Dolphins were "an extra point away from being three down." I wish someone would've said that in the Patriots/Redskins game, after the 'Skins scored to bring it within 45.

Morning YouTubeness: Brett Favre Has No Patience For Your Overtime

If he wasn't already, Brett Favre is officially Mr. Monday Night. Why pick apart a defense if you can just hurl the ball 50 yards down field and score. Not once, but twice.

It was like a game of Madden where you just say, "Oh, F it. Let's try this one out." What amazes me is that Greg Jennings dropped about three five yard passes during the game, but catches this one in stride and takes it to the house for the win. Enjoy.

Morning YouTubeness: Tigers Win! Tigers Win!

Yep, it's another Monday morning. But unlike most, today's video de jour is one of Division III football fame. This play was thought so higly of that it was covered in USA Today.

Needing a touchdown with the ball on their own 30 yard line, check out the longest play that I think I've ever seen. Well done, Trinity. Well done. Enjoy.

Music City Miracle my ass.
